Aims / Outcome

To understand more about home fire safety.
Know the correct way to react in the event of fire.
To understand our motto: "Get out!, Get the Fire Brigade out!, Stay out!"

Objectives

By the end of the scenario the children should:

know the importance of detecting smoke early and having working smoke detectors at home
know what correct actions should be taken when hearing a smoke alarm
know the correct method of calling an emergency service
identify the correct actions to take if trapped by fire

How this will be achieved

There will be 2 scenarios, one involving the pupils reacting to a smoke alarm sounding (including phoning 999), and the second where cosmetic smoke is put into an upper floor bedroom and the pupils are instructed in the correct actions to be taken.
