Farm Safety
Aims / Outcome
- Pupils should know how to stay safe on a farm.
Objectives
By the end of the scenario the children should:
- know the dangers associated with playing on or near stacks or straw or hay
- understand why it is dangerous to play in old buildings
- understand why fences and signs are put up around dangerous areas such as slurry pits
- know what a grain silo is, and why you should not enter enter to play hide-and-seek
- know the legal age to drive or ride on tractors and other machines on a farm
- understand the dangers associated with hitching a ride on a tractor or trailer
How this will be achieved
The pupils will view 3 short videos:
- Falls and falling objects
- Drowning and suffocation
- Machinery
The videos will be followed by a brief discussion.
